Taking
Up Space:
A new book by Pattie Thomas, Ph.D. will be
released this summer (2004). Drawing upon both her sociological
knowledge and her personal experience, Dr. Thomas explores the stigma
placed upon fatness and how it affects the lives of larger people.
The Road
Tour: Starting in July,
Three Wise Twins, LLC will be promoting Taking
Up Space and Pearlsong Press across the country. We will be
filming, interviewing people and investigating life on the road for
fat people. Stigmatized people often withdraw from being active
in the world because they meet so many barriers. We hope to
document these barriers and the ways that fat people can be active and
engaged in the world.
The
Ample Traveler:
Based upon our road experiences, we will be
developing a multimedia project to encourage fat people to get out and
travel. There is room for everyone.
